LG Electronics has achieved its best-ever financial performance for a second quarter, largely due to strong demand for its home appliances, vehicle components, and HVAC systems. The company announced a preliminary operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, which is approximately $1.04 billion, marking a significant 146.9% rise compared to the same period last year. Revenue also saw a notable increase, climbing 14.9% to reach 23.83 trillion won, exceeding market projections.
These outstanding results have set new records for LG in the first half of the year, with revenues reaching 47.56 trillion won and operating profit totaling 3.25 trillion won. The company’s performance was bolstered by increased sales across key sectors, enhanced cost efficiency, and a boost from expanding subscription services. Additionally, the growth of its webOS platform and a rise in online sales contributed to the financial success.
The home appliance, vehicle solutions, and HVAC segments were the primary growth engines for LG. There was a heightened demand for premium home appliances and automotive infotainment systems, as well as cooling solutions, particularly in Europe, which has recently experienced severe heatwaves. These conditions have driven up the demand for cooling systems, further enhancing LG’s performance in these areas.
LG Electronics is also focusing on future growth opportunities, with continued investments in innovative technologies. The company is channeling resources into AI data center cooling technologies and the development of advanced robotics components, positioning itself for sustainable growth in emerging sectors.
